8.5 years in Shanghai and it was time to move on. It was time for a radical change. The only way to escape the clutches of alluring Shanghai is to run away. And thats what we did. We ran to Yunnan, Dali. No more first world city problems for us, let’s go rural yo.
Dali – where the summers are cool and the winters warm, the water is clean and the skies blue. Ok so there’s the occasional electricity trip and water pressure is lacking. But it’s a small price to pay for the start of a healthy life. (Right??) We arrived in November last year and we’ve been working hard on our house in the village ever since. The aim is to build a home together with Mr Husband aka Arthur Gallice – a lovely living and working space where we can finally do all those things that we never could find time for. I dream of the day when its all done – the sun is shining, the music is playing, the bread is baking, Arthur is creating in his beautiful second floor studio and I’m looking naturally toned from all that healthy country living.
Its been about a month of serious renovations at the Loo-Gallice home. There is no second floor studio yet and neither am I naturally toned. But the house is really coming along and we hope to move in there before the end of January. We’ve still got a long way to go but it feels good to actually be working on our home. My aching body probably does not agree.
Anyway, stay tuned! I’ll try to document our progress so you know what we’re up to on this side of the world. Till next time, happy 2013!!
